Artemas Ward Homestead - The Ward homestead in Shrewsbury is nearly 300 years old. Harvard University was given the property and a $5 million bequest in 1925 to maintain the house and grounds as a 'public patriotic museum.' From April to November, the General Artemas Ward Homestead is open, free of charge, as a tourist attraction. For hours, call 508-842-8900. (Shrewsbury, MA)

 
 

Shrewsbury Historical Society - Discover Shrewsbury's rich history at the Shrewsbury Historical Society. Opened in 2001, the Shrewsbury Historical Society Museum guides you through Shrewsbury's history with photographs, clothing, and artifacts. American Sanitary Plumbing Museum - In this Worcester museum founded by plumbing salesman Charles Manoog in the '70s, you'll find everything from rudimentary outhouses to 19th century toilet paper to an ''earth cabinet,'' which flushes with lime instead of water. Constitution - "Old Ironsides" Made from approximately 2,000 trees (with specialty woods obtained from Maine to Georgia), armed with cannons cast in Rhode Island, and fitted with copper fastenings provided by the famous Boston smith Paul Revere, the vessel is truly a "national" ship.   Dr. Seuss National Memorial - The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is now open at the Quadrangle in Springfield, Massachusetts, the city where Theodor Seuss Geisel was born and which appears to have inspired much of his work. Sculptor Lark Grey Dimond-Cates, who is also Geisel's step-daughter, created the endearing bronze sculptures of Dr. Seuss and his most beloved characters for the Springfield Library & Museums Association, located in the heart of this city which is on the Connecticut River in Western Massachusetts.
