Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to the constant support of the Library and special events. Some of these programs include the summer reading events, special speaker and author visits, museum passes, and scholarships. Through fund-raisers like the book sales and membership fees, the Friends are able to support programs that otherwise would not be a part of the library experience.

Friends of the Shrewsbury Library Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the Shrewbury Public Library has awarded the 2008 Scholarship to Carolyn McRae. Carolyn is a graduate of Shrewsbury High School. Elizabeth and David McRae of Boylston Circle are her parents.
Her winning essay, "Encouraging," states how it was "exhilarating to wander through the Library and choose a book that interested me. I was impressed by the fact that the library trusted me to bring their book home, take good care of it and bring it back unharmed." Carolyn also stated that "a library benefits the community by encouraging reading, encouraging education, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle."
Carolyn will be attending Suffolk University this fall as a business major.
The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library wish Carolyn McRae and all the 2008 graduates a wonderful and successful future.
