| If the property has a cesspool or a septic system, in most cases, an inspection is required. Sellers should call the Health Department before putting the house on the market, to determine if an inspection is necessary. | ||
| 2. | Is it acceptable to use my home kitchen to prepare food and cater events? | |
| No. The use of a residential kitchen is allowed only for the preparation of non-potentially hazardous food (cookies, lollipops) which will be appropriately labeled and sold in retail stores. Home kitchens can not be used for catering. The preparation of cookies and lollipops also requires a permit from the Health Department. | ||
| 3. | I am too busy to recycle. Why should I? | |
| The Town of Shrewsbury pays a low fee for the disposal of trash, but every ton that is recycled rather than put in the rubbish saves the town $35.00. The Town By-Law mandates separation of recyclables from the rubbish. If all residents made an effort to recycle and to recycle more, the town could save thousands of dollars. And recycling is good for the environment. If we all pitch in and recycle, the need to build more landfills and incinerators will be greatly reduced. |
