Friends of the Library eBay Sale

In order to support the Library and its programs better, the Friends
of the Shrewsbury Library are now selling books on eBay and are
asking for your help.

Unlike the usual books accepted for the annual book sale, special books including rare, hard to find books, antiquarian, leather bound, hardcover classics, hardcover books with embossed or gilt designs, hardcover books with gilt edges, and children’s pictorial hardcover books are being sought.

All books are asked to be clean copies in good condition. All contributions patrons can make to this new fund-raising endeavor by the Friends would be deeply appreciated. The Friends support programming for all ages at the Library.

Science Fiction Book Chat

  • May 7th - The Fog Horn by Ray Bradbury
  • June 4th - The Fly by George Langelaan
  • September 5th - The Night of the Triffids by Simon Clark

Adult Services Advisory Committee (ADSAC)

We have formed an Adult Services Advisory Committee, whose mission is to help plan and implement adult programming. Our Assistant Director, George Brown, coordinates the group, with the expectation that the group will become rather active, and eventually be able to run with little staff assistance.

Would you like to join or contribute to this new advisory group? Do you have skills that you would be willing to share? Are you a good organizer? Do you like to arrange events and activities? Can you create good promotional materials, or do you have contacts in fields that would be good sources for classes and programs? Perhaps you’d be willing to give a helping hand with tasks such as setting up for a program or distributing promotional flyers.

Whatever your skills and interests, if you feel you would like to participate in the Adult Services Advisory Committee, we would love to have you join us in providing enriching, informative and enjoyable programs for the adults in our community. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for May 14, June 18, July 23, and August 20—all at 7:00 PM.

For more information about ADSAC and how you might fit in, call Assistant Director George Brown at 508-841-8531, or e-mail him at gbrown@cwmars.org. Or just stop by and speak with him in person at the Library.
