Turning down the thermostat 8° F for eight hours a day will save 8-10% on home heating costs. An easy way to take advantage of these savings is to lower the thermostat temperature while away from home or sleeping.   Programmable, or “set-back” thermostats are the most efficient way to do this.

SELCO is now offering a 50% rebate (up to $30) on the cost of a set-back thermostat. 

This rebate is available to SELCO electric customers ONLY and will run from October 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009. 

The rebate will appear in the form of a credit on your electric bill.  Limit one thermostat rebate per SELCO account. 

Rebate forms can be picked up at the SELCO office or downloaded online at: www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/rebates

Residents may also call the SELCO office at 508-841-8500 to have a rebate form mailed to their home.

SELCO Electric is offering a rebate program for customers interested in purchasing Energy Star rated appliances including washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators and room air conditioners. SELCO Electric and the manufacturers provide the rebates offered. The benefit of Energy Star appliances is that they help conserve water and /or energy.

SELCO Electric is offering rebates for the following:

• Rebate Eligible Clothes Washers ($50 rebate)
• Rebate Eligible Refrigerators ($50 rebate)
• Rebate Eligible Dishwashers ($50 rebate)
• Rebate Eligible Room Air Conditioners ($25 rebate)

Qualified appliances must be purchased between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008 and postmarked by January 19, 2009.

Customers will need to fill out appropriate forms that they can obtain at the Town Hall or on the Town of Shrewsbury Website. Information will be required including your Electric Company account number, brand of machine with serial number, and a copy of the sales receipt.
