A. Continue the work of the Commission on High Achieving Students by addressing the long-term goals which were established in June of 1995.

• Continued expansion of pilot activities in classrooms across the district.
• Implementation of the philosophy of the school district (i.e., raising standards and expectations for all students).

B. To continue the implementation of the MathLand program, K-5, through the establishment of:

1. A principals' study group;
2. Grade level advocate teams;
3. Pre and post testing of all students;
4. Parent Forums

• Consistent implementation of the program from school to school and grade level to grade level.
• Parents will have a greater understanding of the program.

C. Establish a curriculum review team to begin the world language review process, K-12.

• A report in preparation for a site visit by a visiting team.
• A Plan for transition of the world language program to the elementary level.
• An evaluation of the new Middle School program.

D. Establish a curriculum review team to begin a review of Student Services, K-12.

E. Continued development of the social studies curriculum, K-12, through professional development and curriculum development activities for elementary, middle and high school teachers.

• Revised regional studies approach for grades K-5.
• Revised curriculum for grades 6 and 7.
• Revised World Civilizations and Geography course for grades 8 and 9.
• Revised grade 10 social studies requirement.

F. Study and improve the district's assessment strategies, data collection and standardized testing program by:

1. Evaluating and improving the district's data collection in the areas of student achievement and program accountability.
2. Implementing professional development activities related to assessment practices.
3. Analyzing standardized test scores.
4. Responding to the recommendations of the SAT Committee.
5. Developing curriculum activities to assist students to improve their performance on standardized tests.

• Creation of a data base containing assessment information that can be utilized for multiple purposes, i.e., analysis and program evaluation, tracking individual students.
• Improvements to assessment practices, K-12.
• Report to the School Committee of standardized testing results.

2. Expanding opportunities for student and faculty internships;

5. Increasing communications to parents, students, and staff
