The school library media center is the very heart of a school
In the complex technological world of today, education is nolonger simply the
acquisition of a body of knowledge. It is rather the ability to access, effectively
evaluate and creatively presentthis information in a meaningful fashion. Information
literacy equips individuals to take advantage of the opportunities inherent
in the global information society. Our library media services are common to
all grades, all subject, all students,teachers, administrators and parents.
Our media specialists are pivotal facilitators of educational change; promote
the joy of reading; provide meaningful interdisciplinary experiences; expand
students' horizons by spiriting them beyond the confines of their own neighborhood;
empower students to independently use resources; collaborate with classroom
teachers, technology specialists, public librarians; introduce students to fine
literature and as part of a team develops a lifelong love of reading; manage
and automate our collection with Alexandria software and maintain our collection
to insure curricula relevancy.
