Policies and Procedures (Page 1 of 6)
Beginning School
Each child’s adjustment to a new situation is different. Some children experience separation anxiety in the beginning of the school year (or at any time within the school year). One strategy that may help is to stay with your child at first, and then to gradually leave the room for longer periods of time. Parents and teachers will devise a “plan” for each individual child and situation. We suggest that you discuss any difficulty your child may be experiencing with the teachers. Parents and teachers working together to help the child will most likely facilitate a smoother adjustment to the preschool program.
Arrival
The Parker Road Preschool uses a Looping System for child drop off and pick up. Parents should drive around to the back entrance of the building, forming a line of cars. Parents should remain in their cars. Children will be escorted from their cars to the classroom. Every effort is put towards making drop off/pick up run as smoothly as possible. We ask that you keep discussions with staff to a minimum to create an efficient process.

Please be prompt for dismissal
Children become anxious when parents are delayed, and teachers have other scheduled commitments at the end of the preschool session. If you find that you have an unavoidable situation and know you are going to be late, please call the school so that plans for supervision of your child can be made.
