Parker Road Preschool - Special Education

A “\Child Find Process” is a process developed by every public school preschool in order to identify those children in need of special education support. The Parker Road Preschool uses preschool screening as a first step in this process. Children participate in preschool screening either as part of the enrollment process into the preschool program or by parent/teacher/pediatrician referral.

Preschool Screening Process

The Preschool Screening Process is designed to review a child’s development and to assist in identification of those children who should be referred for an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services.
The Preschool Screening Process is available to families who have concerns or questions about their 3 or 4 year old child’s development, but it is not a required step in a family’s request for an evaluation.
Preschool Screenings are most often requested by parents who either have concerns/questions about their child’s development OR have been encouraged to request a screening due to concerns/questions from family members, caregivers, teachers, or pediatricians.
Preschool Screenings are held bi-weekly throughout the school year at the Parker Road Preschool.
