When the Guidance Office works with students, there are a number of websites that we find helpful and would recommend to you. Obviously this list is not exhaustive, but it is a good place to start!

www.collegeboard.com
This is the site to register for college admissions testing (SAT, ACT). This site is also used to research colleges, majors, scholarships and much more. Collegeboard.com is one the most widely used and highly regarded websites for college-bound students.
www.myroad.com
This site can be used to research occupations, future goals, colleges and more. This is the component that SHS students are introduced to in their freshmen year. MyRoad is a function of The College Board.
www.princetonreview.com
Similar to collegboard.com in researching colleges. This site does not register students for college admissions testing.
www.fastweb.com
FastWeb provides a college search feature as well as a scholarship search feature. A unique characteristic of FastWeb is that once you register as a user, the site will email you with announcements, updates and notices.

A wealth of information regarding scholarships and information on how to make college more affordable. A popular and trusted search engine.
www.finaid.org
Provides helpful financial aid information including loans, scholarships and tips on filing the FAFSA.

The official website to file for federal financial aid.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics compiles information into The Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). The OOH is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to students making decisions about their future work lives. Revised every two years, the handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations. The Defense Manpower Data Center, an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, publishes Military Career Guide Online, a compendium of military occupational, training, and career information designed for use by students and jobseekers.
