Crayfish eat many things. In there natural habitat they will eat fish, earth worms, tadpoles, snails, plants, and small fish.
If you had a crayfish as a pet then you can feed it sweet potatoes, dried fish food, cat food, or pumpkins.
How to take care of a crayfish
To take care of a crayfish you need a tank with water in it, a house, rocks, sticks, and plants. Its important to clean the tank every 2 or 3 days. Crayfish need clean cold water to survive. Some people recommend an air pump to add fresh oxygen to the water.
A crayfish has a lot of predators. Some of them are raccoons, Herons, fish, people, squirrels, storks, and birds.
First a crayfish starts out as an egg. Then it hatches and looks like a adult but it is smaller. Than it molts to a bigger crayfish. After that it gets to be a adult and if it is a female it will have babies.

You pick up a crayfish by the carapace (it`s back). But remember, don`t pick it up to close to it`s eyes or tail it can pinch you.
A crayfish has a lot of body parts. The most important parts of a crayfishes body are the carapace, tail, legs, heart, claws, brain, egg pores, long antenna, short antenna, stomach, digestive gland, bladder,intestines, modified swimmerets, and swimmerets.


A crayfish`s habitat is a lake near shallow water under rocks. The pond or lake is were you would probably find one.
