Community Bulletin Board Policy (Town Crier)

PURPOSE

The Town’s Internet-based Community Bulletin Board is intended to create a 21st century “Town Crier” to facilitate advertising of local, community and neighborhood activities.

USE AND FUNCTION

Who Can Post: Only Shrewsbury residents and Shrewsbury-based non-profit organizations can post to the Community Bulletin Board. Postings from commercial enterprises will not be accepted.

Acceptable Postings: Yard sales, vehicles for sale by owner, items for sale for less than $10,000.00, lost and found, community events, services provided by part-time owner-operated businesses (snow plowing, lawn mowing, etc.) All postings are subject to approval by the Town of Shrewsbury Website Administrator.

Length of Posting: All postings must be 50 words or less.

Period of Posting: Each posting will remain on the Community Bulletin Board for a period of two (2) weeks.

Posting Repetition/Number of Postings: Postings can be repeated no more than three (3) times over a period of two months. Any organization or individual can have no more than three (3) postings on the Community Bulletin Board at any given time.

Photos: One gif or jpg image will be allowed with each posting. Photos must be provided by the party posting the listing, and must reside on an outside server and be accessed through a link included in the posting.

Contact Information: A name, phone number, and email address must accompany all postings. Postings lacking this information will be discarded. Yard sale postings must include the location and date of the sale and do not require a telephone number.

Posting Requirements: Posting must include a stop date for the ad in (mm/dd/yy) format on a separate line at the end of the posting, if posting is to appear for less than two weeks. All postings must be submitted using the online submittal form available at: http://www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/towncrier

Content Restrictions: The Town of Shrewsbury website is a family-friendly site. Postings containing adult language or content will not be accepted. We reserve the right to accept or reject any posting at any time for any reason.

Disclaimer of Liability: The Town of Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO), and any of their employees cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of postings on the Community Bulletin Board, nor can they be held liable in any way for any transaction or dealings resulting from a posting on the Community Bulletin Board. By submitting a posting to the Community Bulletin Board you agree to abide by the above policy, and absolve the Town of Shrewsbury, SELCO, and their employees of any liability relating to business conducted through the Community Bulletin Board.
