| How to set up your personal web space | |||||||
| As part of your Town ISP service, you are entitled to 10MB of personal web space and email. To take advantage of your web space, you will first need to create your website, and then FTP it to the TownIsp servers. Personal web sites are the responsibility of the customer, TownISP does not offer web creation services, editing or maintenance for your site. |

| Creating Your Website | |||||||
| You can create your website in any HTML editing program. There are many basic editors that offer design tools that give the option of designing the page, writing the code for you or editing the HTML yourself. Programs may be purchased at many retail outlets or downloaded through websites such as www.tucows.com or www.cnet.com. Examples of HTML editors are as follows: Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Easy HTML, CoffeeCup HTML Editor. For the Macintosh user, programs such as PageSpinner and CreativePage
make it easy for the beginner or more advanced. |

| Uploading Your Website | |||||||
| Once your site is created, you will need an FTP program to upload it. Some advanced HTML Editors such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver have an FTP component installed in them. Your user manual will provide instructions for setting this up. With most freeware HTML Editors you will need to install a separate FTP program on to your PC. As with HTML editors these can be purchased or downloaded. We have provided an example using WS-FTP LE for Windows Users this is a Freeware program that can be downloaded from www.tucows.com. Mac users can also find FTP software at this site. In your FTP program, enter the following information:
Your homepage address will then be http://www.townisp.com/~UserID
(Note: you must insert the ~ before your user ID) |
