SELCO is now offering Linksys wireless routers to Internet customers. Wireless routers provide a wireless Internet connection that is always on and always connected.

Wireless internet makes it easy to network all the computers, peripherals and game consoles in your home or small office. Always on and connected, wireless offers a fast Internet connection, secure network, and the convenience and flexibility of SELCO Internet access.

The wireless router is available for new or existing Internet customers who subscribe to Standard Speed and Speed Plus Service only. Wireless routers are not available to Direct Connect or Business customers at this time. There is a one-time fee of $39.95 to offset the extra cost of the wireless router. Regular monthly service costs apply. Installation of the wireless router by a TownISP service technician is $50.00.

The router will remain the property of SELCO. TownISP Helpdesk will provide technical support for this service.

TownISP Wireless Modem Terms and Conditions

New customers can request a wireless router at the time they order broadband Internet service. The router will be installed in your home by a technician who will setup one wired and one wireless computer connection. Set up of additional computers (wired or wireless) are available for a charge of $50.00 each.

Wireless USB adapters are available for $30.00. Setup and configuration of the adapter to connect to the wireless router is included in the installation of the device. Customer’s existing wireless cards/adapters can be configured to connect to the wireless router, but will remain the responsibility of the customer.

The customer should follow the instructions included with the router to perform self-install. Only limited support will be provided over the phone by the helpdesk for customers who choose self-install.

For customers who are not comfortable with self-install, we will schedule a service call and a $50.00 installation charge will apply. This charge also includes the setup of one wired and one wireless computer.

Wireless USB adapters for the PC/laptop are the customer’s responsibility. SELCO will have wireless USB adapters available for purchase at a price of $30.00 at the time of the router install.

Wireless Router Security:
Wireless router installation by SELCO will include a security set up to limit wireless access to computers/laptops owned or used by the customers. Security settings include the use of a unique Wireless Network Name (SSID) which will be labeled by the installer on the modem and all adapters in use. The setup will also disable the broadcasting of this Network Name; therefore the Network Name must be manually configured on all computers trying to connect to the wireless router.

In cases where existing customers choose self-install of the wireless router, the customer is urged to install the same security measures by following the Instruction Sheet included. All other security set by the customer will not be supported by the TownISP Helpdesk.

For both self-installed and service installed wireless routers, the TownISP Helpdesk will only provide support for the use of Unique Network Name, and disabled broadcasting of Network Name. If a customer has set other security measures on the wireless router and they call the helpdesk for support, the customer may be asked to remove any support measures they have configured.

Restriction:
Wireless Internet access via a town owned wireless router is intended solely for use by the customer of record. Customers should take necessary security precautions to limit unauthorized connections. Any attempt to enable, allow, and resell Internet access to anyone other than the customer is strictly prohibited.
